Duluth Hosta Terms and Conditions

HOSTA SEED: All hosta seeds are sold as-is. We will stand behind the parentage (the seeds came from the plant we say they came from, but you’ll still have to take us at our word as there’s really no way for us to prove it) and the quantity listed (there will be that many, or maybe a few extras, and on this, you can verify the count).

Remember, hostas do not come true from seed; if you want “Hosta August Moon”, you can’t grow it from seed—you have to actually go buy a division or clone of that specific plant. If you desire variegated or streaked seedlings vs. solid leaves, your best odds are with seeds from a streaked mother plant (pod parent), but all that does in increase your chances, there are no guarantees!

We cannot make any promises and offer no warranty nor guarantee regarding viability, germination, or the quantity/quality of the seedlings you wind up with. Hosta seeds are inherently risky purchases, and they can be challenging to germinate and grow (particularly for first-timers). We consider seeds a gamble, so encourage all customers to only spend money they can comfortably part with and completely lose.

RETURNS: We do not accept returns. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

PROBLEMS WITH YOUR ORDER: If something is wrong with your order, please email us directly first so we can figure out how best to resolve the problem.

SHIPPING: United States Postal Service (USPS) is our default option. For International Shipments, it is really the only cost-effective option.

Regionally, SpeeDee Delivery is an excellent option for larger packages, and FedEx and UPS are also options we can consider. But for Hosta Seeds, USPS is the best fit and really the only necessary option.

PAYMENTS: Duluth Hosta uses PayPal for all online payments. We use this platform in order to provide you with the highest level of security; your credit card information is never seen or stored by Duluth Hosta. You do not need a PayPal account to send payments through PayPal.

INTERNATIONAL PURCHASES:

We are willing to ship hosta seeds internationally, to any place which allows the shipment of ornamental perennial seeds such as hosta seeds. We have had no issues with seed deliveries to Canada in past years.

In 2020, we’ve had inquiries from the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Poland, so we’ve done the legwork there and added shipping options. For any other country, please inquire. Please also know that hostas are temperate plants that require cold dormancy periods, so orders from locations like Indonesia (or Florida) will certainly raise eyebrows!

International buyers are solely responsible for knowing and abiding by all their country and local laws pertaining to seed importation. Duluth Hosta follows proper declarations for customs on our shipments, and buyers are solely responsible for any and all customs-related costs, duties, tariffs, and taxes applied to their purchases.

As we are unable to verify delivery internationally, and delivery may be delayed or even prevented by non-US governmental agencies, we cannot offer any guarantees regarding the delivery of hosta seeds abroad. As we are unable to verify that a customer has followed the proper laws and guidelines to import seeds, we are, again, unable to offer any guarantees or refunds on international shipments.

The bottom line, just as we recommend to bidders in our seed auctions, understand the risks, and we only suggest you make purchases with money you can afford to 100% lose!

We have added a separate page, Importing Hosta Seeds from the US, to share more detailed considerations about international seed shipping, as well as any links to information we’ve found or that have been brought to our attention.

Finally, it is worth noting that we do not ship hosta plants internationally.

QUESTIONS: If you are unclear on any of our terms, or have other questions, please contact us before making your purchase. Thanks!
