Description
Open Pollination (O.P.) seeds from Hosta Strawberry Swirls, which originally came to me by way of Bentley Gardens many years back. It has been an odd plant for me, very plastic in its growing habit; in one spot it grew to a small size, probably 12″ tall, but in the sunny location where I have it now it’s growing very low to the ground, spreading like groundcover, and looking like a mini! I’ve sold off a couple of pieces of it over the years, and overall I don’t think I’ve ever had this one stabilize into a solid plant…margined maybe, but overall holds good streaking. It has just a tinge of red at the base of the petioles, hence the “Strawberry” portion of the name.
